Loved the evening bar. Loved the pool although used it only once due to weather. Loved the breakfast and the fact that you could have cooked breakfast too, was extra special - all delicious. The coffee was generous in quantity and excellent. The service so kind and friendly. It was lovely to see the dogs around the hotel too. Even as a cat lover it was fun to have them there. The gardens were super and the view breathtaking.

Shanklin and Sandown are beautiful beaches but both towns are dying. Shops empty etc. Parking expensive and a nightmare to find which took a lot of the enjoyment out of the trip. Parking charged 24 hours 7 days a week.

The hotel is located in old Shanklin which is delightful.
The hotel is located in old Shanklin which is delightful. The main part of Shanklin is run down and not appealing. Despite this it has an excellent beach and would be a good place for a beach holiday with the right weather.

The beachfront and beach were lovely, accessible from the clifftop area via a lift suitable for everyone. Lots of places to sit and eat and drink. The far end of the beach past the Fisherman's cottage pub was dog friendly with a wide flat sandy area. Shanklin chine was lovely to walk through and explore as was the old village full of charming old shops and buildings. Shanklin town centre was within a short walk with a mix of shops some areas did look a little tired but we found virtually all places were dog friendly. The station was only a short walk from our hotel with a regular reliable service to Ryde. Using the Trainline app enabled us to get flexible day returns at reduced costs and we could hop on and off along the journey. Overall a very pleasant and well positioned place to stay, the hotel and staff were wonderful very welcoming and accommodating who made as much fuss of our dog as us.

The beach at shanklin is level and sandy easy access to beach with just a few steps down, lots of car parks with short easy walking, if you get there early there is space along the promenade, sun lounges, deck chairs and parasols to hire and cafes and entertainment and snack’s with in easy distance.
The Grange is in a beautiful setting, with a lovely garden and lots of outdoor seating. Our room opened onto a ground floor terrace, also with garden furniture, which led to an outdoor area for eating and drinking. Plants, flowers and greenery enhanced the ambiance. Sadly the weather curtailed our opportunity to enjoy the garden for much of the time. The old village of Shanklin was very close, with a variety of places to eat, making the car redundant, which was good!
Lots of potential but in great need of renovation. Pool was out of use. Decor is old and tired. There was a hole in our floor in the room, covered with carpet! Everything is done on a shoestring !
Despite the poor accommodation, the staff are lovely and the location is close to the beach and shanklin town.
It's a shame the owner does not invest in this hotel because it could draw higher prices and better reviews!
Beautiful property, exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms, a very friendly (family run) hotel - I visit the Island every couple of months and this is a 'real find'.
Nice quiet location (a short walk from the Old Village), ample parking and even 2 bus stops (one towards Shanklin/Ryde and the other towards Godshill/Newport) right outside the hotel, if you fancy a day out without the car.
A fantastic place to stay, a lovely building, very clean, a great breakfast and very friendly staff. A big thank you to Ann and John for your hospitality. I would not hesitate to stay here again. A great location too, a short walk to either the high street or the old village with its great restaurants and thatched roofed pubs… fantastic! Thank you! 😊
Loved my stay at Bedford Lodge, the room was very nice and confortable, the garden is beautiful. Large choice for breakfast, the hotel is well located, it is in the old village, the beach is not far, restaurants and the bus stop to visit the island are close. Friendly host.
Wonderful cliff top location with a beautiful view for breakfast. Plenty of places to go in Shanklin, although the tearooms and the amusements were a particular favourite! Access to a swimming pool was very welcome during the nice weather.
Everything, beautiful hotel, nice gardens. Great welcome when we arrived, the room and bathroom clean. Brilliant breakfast, plenty of food, staff couldn't do enough for us. Booked for the music festival definitely book again. Outstanding
Perfect location with stunning views and close to the old village. The hotel was nicely set up and very clean with kind and helpful staff always around to help. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay there, highly recommend this hotel!
Great location on bus route , easy walk into the Old Village or downhill to the beachfront , or short walk to cliff lift. Outdoor pool , heated but cool, room good , clean , quiet fir a hotel. Owner and staff excellent and welcoming
Location, Staff, hotel very clean and beautiful gardens. Having the availability of early evening hot snacks was a really good idea and reasonably priced. Parking available onsite which was brilliant. Great breakfast on offer
We have stayed in many hotels throughout the UK over the years but the staff here were amazing so happy and friendly and really couldn’t do enough for us. Would 100% stay again. And the location and views are stunning!
Lovely room with sea view, very clean. Modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice of fresh fruit. Great location close to Shanklin old village. Very friendly and efficient staff and great facilities.
The location was excellent. Just a 5 minute walk down to Shankline Beach. The room we stayed at had an excellent view of the beach as well. Beautiful sunrise. Great value for money.
