Really enjoyed our 5-day stay here and could have remained indefinitely. The pool and view is excellent, view from the rooms, very spacious, good air conditioning, warm water, able to rent a motorbike directly at the resort, and good breakfast with choices. The owner, Pepe, was present and enjoyed chatting with him. Rented a kayak down the road (at his partner’s resort) and had a great trip out to Koh Rayang.

El Makathanee Resort se encuentra en la isla de Koh Mak y ofrece acceso directo a la preciosa playa de Ao Kratueng. Makathanee was a great place to stay at Koh Mak. We came directly to the pier from Koh Chang, got into the spacious bungalow quickly and enjoyed our time here with an amazing view to the ocean. Close by shops, restaurants and massages (walking distance only minutes). Hotel booked a snorkeling trip for us with only 6 guests which was great. Also nice private beach, also to go for longer walks in both directions. However, a scooter rental is helpful to see also other areas of the island.

Huts are kozy and elegant, the view from the room was spectacular, and the beach is beautiful! The place lives up to its name, with and manages to both be remote and tranquil, while being less than 10 minutes from "the centre" with restaurants etc. Jake, who works in the reception and bar is an excellent host! He is super helpful and knows the Island well , he orders delicious food, has great stories to tell and is an awesome guy!

An extra bonus is a good and affordable resto as well as a grocery less then 50 meter away. This place and the whole island is a dream for people who want to escape mass tourism.
